Reach Out Today

Domestic violence stops here. Often, abusers work very hard to isolate or keep domestic violence victims away from your family and friends. Breaking this isolation by getting information and help is the most important thing you can do to stop the violence.

Information is empowerment. The first step in getting help might just be getting information. Have you ever wondered am I being abused? What is domestic abuse and other types of abuse? Read these sections or call our crisis line to help you understand what might be causing some of your confusion and pain.

If you are ready to make a plan, AWUM will be here every step of the way. Call our crisis line any time. Our domestic abuse shelter is open to you, and we can also make sure that you have a good safety plan so that you and any children are completely safe.

AWUM offers programs for domestic violence victims and their children. We are here to help every woman be empowered and supported to live the life she deserves. We believe in every woman’s right to a peaceful, holistic, and happy life. We help through our House of Peace (HOP) domestic violence shelter and our Community Advocacy Program (CAP).

House of Peace (HOP) Shelter

House of Peace offers safe shelter for women and their children dealing with domestic violence. Our rooms are private and pleasant, and the surroundings are supportive. It is a completely secure shelter, with around-the-clock security. While here, women receive ongoing, confidential support and care. When a woman leaves HOP, AWUM continues to offer support, legal help, financial assistance, and more.

Community Advocacy Program (CAP)

Our Community Advocacy Program supports women and their children out in the community, and includes violence prevention training. We help women with safety planning, assistance with immigration issues, courtroom advocacy and getting Orders For Protection (OFP) & Harassment Restraining Orders (HRO). CAP also conducts presentations and educational training to raise awareness about domestic violence.
